Zamindari

Vyricharla Suryanarayana Raju (1838-1891), Raja of Kurupam, purchased the zamindari of Chemudu.[citation needed]

Vyricharla Narayana Gajapathi Raju (1900-1957), the then zamindar of Chemudu, was a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Madras. He married Rani Chandramani Devi, daughter of the zamindar of Bissamcuttack.[citation needed]
