The 12028/12027 Bangalore Chennai Shatabdi Express is a superfast express train of Shatabdi class belonging to Indian Railways that runs between Bangalore and Chennai Via Vellore Katpadi junction in India. It is a 6 days a week service with Tuesdays being the weekly day off. It operates as train number 12028 from Bangalore to Chennai and as train number 12027 in the reverse direction.[1]
Coaches
The Bangalore Chennai Shatabdi Express generally has 1 Executive Chair Car coach, 10 AC Chair Car coaches and 2 luggage cum generator coaches. The train runs with the Linke-Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches. As customary, the composition of coaches is at the discretion of Indian Railways. There is no pantry car but catering is arranged on board the train.

It is the fastest train on the Bangalore - Chennai sector averaging 72.40 km/hr. It covers the distance of 362 kilometres in 5 hours 00 mins as 12028 & 12027 Shatabdi Express (72.40 km/hr) thus making it one of the rare trains on the Indian Railways network whose run in both directions is identical like the 12117/18 Godavari Superfast Express.

It is usually hauled by a WAP 7 locomotive from the Royapuram Shed. At times, it has also been hauled by a Arakkonam based WAP 4 or WAP 1.
