Cineplexx is a cinema company based in Austria. The company was founded in 1993, and operates mainly multiplex type cinemas.
Operating mainly in Austria, where it has 27 cinemas, the company started regional expansion into Southeast Europe in late 2000s. So far, the company has acquired or built cinemas in Maribor, Celje, Murska Sobota, Novo mesto, Kranj and Koper in Slovenia; Zagreb, Split and Osijek in Croatia; Belgrade and Kragujevac in Serbia; Podgorica in Montenegro; Skopje in the Republic of Macedonia; and Thessaloniki in Greece. In addition, it operates a cinema in Bolzano, South Tyrol, Italy. The company has announced that it will seek to expand further, and become the leading cinema chain in the region.
