The Dallas Quest is an adventure game based on the popular television series Dallas, programmed by Steve Bjork and James Garon, published by Datasoft for the Tandy Color Computer, Commodore 64 computer in 1984. There was also a version for the Apple IIe and Atari 8-bit home computers as well as the TRS-80 Color Computer.

Development

Lorimar Productions, the studio that produced Dallas, licensed the rights to its characters to Datasoft and provided a script by two "screenwriter's assistants" for the show. James Garon adapted the script into a text adventure game, with graphics provided by professional artists.[1]

Reception

The game was positively received by Your Commodore. Their review praised the graphics which were considered to be some of the best in the genre, although their quality did mean that they "take a long time to be reproduced." A minor criticism was that there was not very much music, and that present was thought unimpressive. Overall the game was said to be "one of the best games out on the CBM64."[2]
