Deerfield is an unincorporated community in Ward Township, Randolph County, in the U.S. state of Indiana.

Geography

Deerfield is located at 40°16′43″N 84°58′35″W / 40.27861°N 84.97639°W / 40.27861; -84.97639. Founded in 1833, the land was laid out by Messrs. Curtis & Bulter. Deerfield was once a large and prosperous village in trade and held the only post office from Winchester to Fort Wayne. Deerfield businesses in the mid to late 1800's consisted of a water grist mill, a woolen factory, a tannery, an ash factory, a small store, a smith shop, a Methodist church, a post office, and a school house.
