"Die Zeit ist einsam" (English translation: "Time Is Lonely") was the Austrian entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1986, performed in German by Timna Brauer.[1]

The song was performed sixteenth on the night (following Cyprus' Elpida with "Tora Zo" and preceding Sweden's Monica Törnell & Lasse Holm with "E' de' det här du kallar kärlek?"). At the close of voting, it had received 12 points, placing 18th in a field of 20.[2]

The song is a ballad, in which Brauer sings that time itself is lonely waiting for her lover to return. She goes on to say that she is also lonely in sympathy to time.

The song was succeeded as Austrian representative in the 1987 Contest by Gary Lux singing "Nur noch Gefühl".[3]
