Timmy Turner
Timmy Turner

Timothy Thomas "Timmy" Turner is a central character on the American animated television series The Fairly OddParents. He is an elementary school student and grade-schooler who secretly has a connection with Cosmo and Wanda, his "fairy godparents".

Somewhat impulsive, he often tends to make his wishes without thinking about the possible consequences of his actions, or how to explain his outrageous wished-for stuff to his friends and family.

Timmy is responsible for a number of notable occurrences, just two of these being the exposure of Denzel Crocker's godparents, and getting South and North Dakota to settle their differences and become a single American state.

Creation

Timmy is named after Butch Hartman's younger brother. He was originally going to be named after Butch's older brother, Mike, but a fight between them prevented that. Timmy's choice of clothing was originally supposed to be blue, but Butch's blue marker ran dry while designing the character, so he used pink instead. He was also originally intended to have red hair, as he did in the old Oh Yeah! Cartoons, because Butch hated brown, but since Vicky was also a redhead, he reluctantly went with brown so that the enemies' hair didn't match; black looked too heavy on him.

Biography

Growing up in Dimmsdale, Timmy Turner has been a child fed up with life and wanting the chance to escape. His unnamed parents (who thought he was going to be a girl) were videotaping every move of his childhood. They lied a lot, too. One day, when he was eight years old, his parents told him that they were going to leave for parts unknown.

Taking the fib too seriously, an upset Timmy called up Vicky the Babysitter, not realizing the terror he had just put himself in until it was too late. But Timmy's life changed a year later (the "Oh Yeah! Cartoons" short titled "The Fairly OddParents!"), when Vicky was babysitting him while Mom & Dad went to see -according to his Magic 9 Ball- "Titanic - Director's Cut". In a fit of depression, Timmy threw it at his bedroom wall.

Then out of the toy came his assigned fairy godparents - Cosmo & Wanda! At first, Timmy wasn't so sure if he'd enjoy having them around, but he eventually grew to love the fairies like they were his best friends. He defined his relationship with them quite well in the "Oh Yeah!" episode "The Zappys". Most of Timmy's misadventures are the unexpected results of the wishes that he makes. However, Timmy must also keep them concealed from everyone, especially Denzel Crocker, his suspicious schoolteacher.

Having a very abnormal love life, his main crush is on Trixie Tang, who shows signs of indifference towards him. Timmy's tried as hard as he can to get in Trixie's good book, including making selfish wishes to be popular (in Trixie's first appearance, "A Wish Too Far!"), becoming a girl to find out what she wanted for her birthday (in "The Boy Who Would Be Queen"), made it so the only life forms on earth were him and Trixie ("Just the Two of Us") and even trying to serenade her on Valentine's Day ("Love Struck!").

But meanwhile, Timmy also has to worry about two other girls, both of whom have huge crushes on him - Veronica, Trixie's best friend (unknown to him until Information Stupor Highway and referenced again in "Mind Over Magic"), and Tootie, Vicky's little sister. He also had an affair with Cindy Vortex during an adventure where he accidentally switched places with Jimmy Neutron (The Jimmy Timmy Power Hour). Timmy's favorite comic book superhero is The Crimson Chin, whose sidekick he is.

In the episode "Chin Up!", Timmy accidentally revealed to the Chin that he was just a comic book character, and the Chin lost his confidence. Timmy helped him regain it, as Cleft the Boy Chin Wonder. He also defeated the Chin's evil twin, the NegaChin, under the Cleft alias. Timmy has also donned the Cleft alter-ego in Crimson Chin bumpers played on Nickelodeon and NickToons TV, and also in the half-hour special The Big Superhero Wish.

Other characters important to Timmy include: his human friends Chester McBadbat, A.J., Elmer the Boil Kid, and Sanjay, plus singing sensation Chip Skylark, whom he has helped several times; enemies such as Francis, Dr. Bender & Wendell, Happy Peppy Betty & Gary, Gary (his imaginary friend gone wrong), Remy Buxaplenty; and mystical creatures like Jorgen Von Strangle, Mama Cosma (Cosmo's mother), Big Daddy (from Big Wanda, as Wanda's Father), and Juandissimo Magnifico (Wanda's former beau, and Remy's fairy godparent).

Trivia

  • Timmy is allergic to oranges and sauerkraut.
  • He is also afraid of clowns and, strangely, feet.
  • Apparently, Timmy ruins everyone's life by being in existence, including the Chicago Cubs.
  • Timmy is ambidextrous; he is supposed to be left handed, but in some episodes, he is shown writing with his right hand.
  • While at his hippie teacher's yard sale, he sees an album titled Dark Side of the Smoof, an obvious tribute to Pink Floyd's famous album The Dark Side of the Moon.
  • According to Jorgen, his huge baby tooth is the dental equivalent to the Hope Diamond.
  • He also has an alter ego as Cleft The Boy Chin Wonder.
  • Once Timmy got an "A" on his test paper {he was doodling a sketch of himself on the answear sheet}. His friends are in shock and start screaming that the end of the world is coming!
