The Division of Gorton is an Australian Electoral Division in Victoria.
The division was created in 2004 to replace the abolished Division of Burke, and is named for Sir John Gorton, Prime Minister of Australia from 1968 to 1971. Gorton is located in the outer western suburbs of Melbourne, including the suburbs of Hillside, Delahey, Kings Park, Caroline Springs, Deer Park, Cairnlea and Melton as well as the satellite townships of Diggers Rest and Toolern Vale.
The constituents of Gorton are ethnically diverse. The electorate is traditionally working-class and it is one of the safest seats for the Australian Labor Party, with a two-party swing of more than 22% required for the Coalition to win it.
Gorton is currently held by Brendan O'Connor, the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Housing and Homelessness.
