Dracontomelon costatum is a tree in the cashew and sumac family Anacardiaceae. The specific epithet costatum is from the Latin meaning "ribbed", referring to the leaf veins.[2]
Description
Dracontomelon costatum grows as a tree up to 30 metres (100 ft) tall with a trunk diameter of up to 65 cm (26 in). Its bark is cracking in appearance. The flowers are pale yellow. The ovoid to ellipsoid fruits ripen black and measure up to 2 cm (1 in) long.[2]
Distribution and habitat
Dracontomelon costatum grows naturally in Sumatra and Borneo. Its habitat is lowland forests.[2]
