African Love Stories is an anthology that was first published in 2006 in the UK by Ayebia Clarke Publishing Limited. It is edited and collected by the Ghanaian Author Ama Ata Aidoo. The book aimed at debunking the myth about African women as impoverished victims.[1]

African Love Stories brings together twenty-one short stories written by various African authors. These include the following:

  9. Ebube Dike by Anthonia C Kalue.
  10. Three [Love] Stories in Brackets' by Antjie Krog.
  11. Modi's Bride by Sindiwe Magona.
  12. Modupe by Sarah Ladipo Manyika.
  13. Counting down the Hours by Blessing Musariri.
  14. Jambula Tree by Monica Arac de Nyeko.
  15. Needles of the Heart by Promise Ogochukwu.
  16. Give Us That Spade by Molara Ogundipe.
  17. The Telltale Heart by Helen Oyeyemi.
  18. The Veil by Nawal El Saadawi.
  19. A sunny Afternoon by Veronique Tadjo.

Many of these stories explore similar themes of love, marriage, culture, racism, cross-culture relationships, gender, family and uncertainty.
