Delta Force (formerly Delta Force: Hawk Ops) is an upcoming free-to-play first-person tactical shooter for PC, consoles, and mobile. It is part of the Delta Force series, previously developed and published by NovaLogic. The rights were acquired by Chinese company Tencent and the game is under development by TiMi Studios, known for developing Call of Duty: Mobile.[2][3][4]

Originally titled simply Delta Force, and then amended to Delta Force: Hawk Ops, on August 20, 2024, the game's title was reverted back to just Delta Force.[5]

Gameplay

[edit]

Players will assume the role of military operators with unique abilities on the battlefield in an unnamed conflict and set in present day locations. Military vehicles like tanks and helicopters will be available for players to control, with weapon and character customization available to players.

The multiplayer is free to play with optional micro-transactions, and developers have opted against pay-to-win elements, with a separate game currency for cosmetics.[6] Aside from Havoc Warfare, a mode where teams are allocated tickets to win a game,[7] it will also feature an extraction mode known as Hazard Operations.[2] Player progression is largely shared across different platforms with some limitations.[8][9]

Black Hawk Down campaign

[edit]

Inspired by the film Black Hawk Down (2001) by Ridley Scott and Delta Force: Black Hawk Down, the paid component of the game will feature a single-player and cooperative experience as United States forces participating in the 1993 Somali conflict, with rights to Scott's footage and will be closely based on the film. Tech demos of the campaign featured levels rendered in Unreal Engine 5, including the locations of the raid which led to the Battle of Mogadishu.[10]

Release

[edit]

Delta Force will launch for PC in Early Access during Q4 2024, and players will also be able to get a taste of the action even sooner during Steam Next Fest in October, while playing the latest build of the game.[8]
