Evert González Rodríguez (Vergara, Cundinamarca, April 22, 1985),[1] known simply as Evert González, is a Professor[2] of English and a Colombian writer. He is the author of several books, including A Wish, a Thousand Tears[3] published on July 20, 2020.

Biography[edit]

Evert has ventured into the world of foreign language by implementing a method established in Germany and France in the Expression error: Unrecognized word "xx".. The direct method in English is used to develop communicative skills in the second language in Colombia, following the parameters implemented by the ministry of national education and the basic competency standards.[4]

Career[edit]

After finishing Fidel León Triana High School, he enrolled at El Bosque University in Bogotá, where he pursued higher education to obtain a degree in bilingual education. He began publishing some educational articles and eventually dedicated himself to writing along with teaching.

He worked as an educator in Bogotá in various private institutions and also embraced teaching as a private tutor. In 2020, González published his first novel, A Wish, a Thousand Tears. He has integrated his teaching career with literature and has collaborated with students on educational projects related to the English language.

The Methodology for teaching languages that this teacher has advocated for years involves establishing a visual and immediate association between experience and expression, between words, idioms, and their physical or bodily expression, without relying on the students' mother tongue. This method is included among the so-called natural methods and is the most widespread. However, it is a challenge[5] for teachers[6] in these disciplines, partly because it is one of the goals of the National Program of Bilingualism, and also because Colombia is not an exception in needing to catch up on learning this language.

Works[edit]

In his trajectory as a writer and author, he has managed to develop stories based on real events, blending the genre of non-fiction, as seen in his work: The Retreat of Death[7] where humans are confined by a virus in different ways, referring to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Social Circle[8] explains the monotony of human beings and the environment in which they find themselves, as depicted in his book of the same name. He has narrated about the existence of humans on Earth and what will happen when they cease to exist, as seen in Footprints Beyond the Firmament. Nevertheless, everyone is a ghost of their existence, even beyond. Each person is worthy of thinking and acting according to their actions, and each person leaves some doctrine or lesson that lasts for centuries in the memories of those who want to follow them. One of his works, titled Indigent and Avenger, is part of the national novel and short story contest held in the city of Medellín, Colombia, organized by the Chamber of Commerce of that city in alliance with Penguin Random House Colombia.
