Draft:Fabyan Parkway

  • Comment: The sources as they currently are don't show why the parkway itself is notable. Google Maps just shows that the parkway exists, but does not give any significant information about why it is independently notable from something like the Fabyan Villa/Fabyan Forest Preserve. The other sources are either more about the Fabyan property or are passing mentions, like the Kane County source which only says that the jail was built on the parkway. Route Description

[edit]

Fabyan Parkway begins at a roundabout with Main Street Road and Bliss Road west of Batavia. It then intersects Hughes Road and Kaneville Road, both Kane County Highways. Then, it intersects Randall Road in a major industrial complex. Fabyan Parkway then forms the border between Batavia and Geneva. After a junction with IL 31, it crosses the Fox River to intersect with IL 25. After an intersection with Kirk Road, it crosses the DuPage-Kane Border into West Chicago. Fabyan Parkway ends on IL 38 in West Chicago.

History

[edit]
Fabyan Japanese Garden, c. 1925

The Fabyan Villa, just north of Fabyan Parkway's intersection with IL 31, was the home of George Fabyan from 1908 to 1939.[2] The villa is notable for its 1907 remodeling by Frank Lloyd Wright and its Japanese garden, built in 1910 by T. R. Otsuka. The Forest Preserve District of Kane County manages both the villa and the garden.
