The Heather Cutler Foundation is a Canadian non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and advocating for pancreatic cancer patients. Founded in June 2024, the foundation aims to be a comprehensive resource for pancreatic cancer patients in Canada, focusing on self-advocacy in smaller healthcare settings.
History
[edit]The foundation was established in honor of Heather Cutler, a nurse of 35 years, who battled pancreatic cancer for two years, and who’s journey to John Hopkins highlighted regional disparities in smaller provinces of Canada, and the need for self-advocacy to align smaller healthcare Centers in Canada with bigger cancer Center’s.
It began as "Team Heather" , with the Cutler family and a close group of friends raising $3,000 at their inaugural event, and raising $10,000 at their second attendance at "Kicking PancreAS" event in June 2024 in support of Craig’s Cause.
Activities
[edit]The Heather Cutler Foundation engages in various activities to support pancreatic cancer patients:
- Providing comprehensive information on pancreatic cancer
- Offering advocacy and support for patients
- Sharing resources and tips for managing the disease
- Developing educational materials
- Producing podcasts on patient advocacy
Future plans

- Releasing an "Introduction to Advocacy" podcast series

- Achieving incorporation and registration as a non-profit organization
