Draft:Sardar Satya
Shankar Babu, known by his stage name Sardar Sathya (or Sardar Satya), is an Indian actor who works predominately in Kannada films. He also had roles in Tulu and Tamil films. Sardar Satya received the 2010 Suvarna Film Award for Best Actor in Negative Role.
Career
[edit]Originally from Chamarajanagar, Sathya started off as an associate director with Yogaraj Bhat for the television serial Sadhana. He trained in the theatre groups Benaka, Rangayana and Neenasam before making a brief appearance in a song in Duniya (2007). In K. M. Chaitanya's Aa Dinagalu (2007), he played the role of Sardar and was thereafter known as Sardar Sathya.[1] He landed the role after Sumana Kittur saw his villainous act in the play Chandrahasa. Satya played a vagabond in Gundragovi (2010).[2] He made his Tulu debut with Madipu (2017).[3] He is involved in his own production house – Sai Nirmala Productions – started with his wife Nirmala Chennappa.[4] He made his Tamil debut with Viduthalai Part 1 (2023) playing the role of a police officer, which Sathya credits to giving his career a rebirth.[5][6][7][8][9]
