Vellachintalagudem

Vellachintalagudem is a village located in the Gopalapuram mandal of the East Godavari district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Situated approximately 38 kilometers from the district's main city, Rajahmundry.[1]

Demographics

As of 2011 Census of India, Vellachintalagudem has a population of approximately 4952 residents of which 2494 are males while 2458 are females. The majority of the population speaks Telugu, the official language of the state.[1]

Economy

The economy of Vellachintalagudem relies heavily on agriculture. Many people in the village work in agriculture. The rich soil allows farmers to grow crops such as tobacco, rice, palm oil, and cashew nuts. Tobacco farming is especially important for the village economy.[1]

Culture and Festivals

Vellachintalagudem celebrates both Hindu and Christian festivals, which reflect its diverse culture. Important festivals like Sankranti, Ugadhi, Vinayaka Chavithi, Sri Ramanavami, Dasara and Christmas are observed with enthusiasm. The village is well-known for its vibrant Sankranti festival, attracting visitors from nearby villages and towns to witness and participate in the celebrations of the festival.[1]

Vellachintalagudem features relatively well-developed infrastructure compared to many rural areas, with extensive coverage of concrete (CC) roads throughout the village. The village is served by 2 Mandal Parishad Primary Schools, ensuring accessible education for children within the community.St. Joseph's English Medium High School provides further educational opportunities for students in the area.A pharmacy is available, offering essential medicines and healthcare products to villagers. Drinking water plants have been established to ensure access to clean and safe drinking water for all residents, promoting public health and well-being.[1]

While not a major tourist destination, Vellachintalagudem offers visitors a glimpse into rural Andhra Pradesh life and its agrarian economy.
