Dudley Street is a main street in the Melbourne central business district. Dudley Street is possibly named after the Governor General from 1908–11, the Second Earl of Dudley, William Humble Ward.[1]
Dudley Street begins at Docklands Boulevard, continues under the Spencer street-North Melbourne rail lines, and across Spencer Street, and ends at the intersection of Peel and William Streets in West Melbourne, Victoria. At its western end, the Depression-era slum camp known as Dudley Flats was occupied by unemployed and homeless people in the 1930s.[2]
Its most famous landmark is the concert venue, Festival Hall.[3]
