Herman Preston Faris (1858–1936) was a committed proponent of the temperance movement. He served for many years as treasurer of the Prohibition National Committee, and he was twice the Prohibition Party candidate for governor of Missouri (running in the 1896 election[1] and the 1908 election[2]). Faris was the party's candidate for President of the United States in 1924.[3]
