Hermione is a Greek Revival building built in 1855 in Tallulah, Louisiana. In April 1862, General Grant's troops landed at Milliken's Bend before the siege of Vicksburg and occupied the Sparta Plantation. During the course of the siege, the Hermione House, on the Kell Plantation, was confiscated and used as a federal hospital, joining the fate of so many other plantation homes in the area. The Hermione House is one of four structures that remain standing in Madison Parish that were built before the Civil War.
It was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1998.[1]
