Indian Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology (IIAB) is a premier national level institute set up by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Ministry of Agriculture of India to cater to the needs of agricultural marketing personnel in India and South East Asian countries. IIAB was established on 8 August, 2013 at Garhkhatanga, Ranchi, as an autonomous body set up as a registered society..

Vision

IIAB should be the nodal agency for implementation of training, extension and research programmes in agricultural biotechnology.

Mission

Strengthening of basic and applied research and human resource capacity building in the frontier areas of agricultural biotechnology.

Mandate

  1. Serve as national of excellence in Agricultural Biotechnology for undertaking cutting edge research, post graduate, doctoral and post doctoral education and capacity building
  2. Create platform for interaction and networking of national and international institutions for the application of Biotechnology in agriculture and provide appropriate support for policy framework.
  3. Forge partnerships with different stakeholders for the development and delivery of products and processes of Agricultural Biotechnology.
  4. Entrepreneurial and other relevant areas for furthering the application of agricultural biotechnology.

Training

  1. Masters and Doctoral degree programmes in Biotechnology with specialization in different areas with fellowships support
  2. Post Doctoral fellowships in frontier areas of Biotechnology offered by the institute and accommodating fellowships sponsored by other agencies.
  3. Regular short, medium and long term training programs.
  4. International bridge degree programs, including dual / sandwich programs, etc.

Education

IIAB offers a two-year PGDM (ABM) (AICTE approved) program for students with graduation and post-graduation in agriculture and allied sciences. The postgraduate diploma in Agricultural Biotechonology.
