International Committee of Children's and Adolescents' Movements
The International Committee of Children's and Adolescents' Movements (ICCAM), generally known by its French name, Comité international des mouvements d'enfants et d'adolescents and acronym CIMEA, is an international pioneer movement organization. CIMEA is a substructure of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY).[1]
The history of CIMEA goes back to 15 February 1958,[1] when a 'children bureau' was founded within WFDY in Budapest.[2][1] In 1962, a CIMEA was founded as a separate committee.[2]
Aims
[edit]The organization aims to promote the education of children and adolescents in the spirit of peace, friendship and mutual understanding. On the basis of the United Nations Charter of Children's Rights, they work for humane and harmonious education of children and adolescents, opposing any activities which could demoralize the child, particularly unwholesome literature and films.[3]
