Internet Killed Television is a web series which documents the lives of Charles Trippy and his fiancée Alli Speed.[1][2]

The show consists of episodes averaging around fifteen minutes that are filmed, edited, and then aired everyday onto YouTube by late afternoon Eastern Standard Time (early morning Greenwich Mean Time). The series was originally planned to last for only one year; however, after the success of the series, the couple have decided to continue. [3]

Background

Internet Killed Television is commonly known by most by its fan base as CTFxC which stands for "Charles Trippy FriendxCore" (the "x" is silent).[4] As of October 2010, the series has over 346,000 subscribers; making it one of the top fourtieth most subscribed comedian channels on YouTube of all time.[5][1] The web series gathers an average of 100,000 views per episode, which brings the show to have over 108 million views.

The web-series also refers itself as a "home-made reality show" due to its format of a first person perspective that directly follows Trippy and Speed's activities with a typical video-blogging (vlogging) style of the couple filming both of their surroundings including their dogs Marley and Zoey. [2] Internet Killed Television also has its own website which features embedded versions of each days vlog.[6]

Furthermore, Trippy and Speed additionally broadcast live shows upon the Internet through BlogTV.[7][4] Much like their web series, these live shows attract a highly respected audience, with Trippy's account (which they use for the live streams) being the second most subscribed account on BlogTV, holding over 15,000 subscribers.[7]

Production

The show is shot with a Canon PowerShot SD 780 IS or an iPhone 4 when the main camera is not available. Sometimes, it is shot with a Canon 7D. In earlier episodes, Trippy used a Flip UltraHD camcorder or an iPhone. It states on the show's website that the series is edited on Apple's Final Cut Pro via a Mac Pro (or a MacBook Pro when traveling).[4] The show's theme tune, composed by Charlie Puth, plays at the end of each episode. The theme tune has changed several times including one to celebrate Trippy and Speed's engagement. The show also features a somewhat traditional 'title card', which others have contributed to the show -- usually featuring the show's logo - and plays at the beginning of each episode.

Cast

Charles Paul Trippy III was born on (1984-09-02) September 2, 1984 (age 40) in Florida. He is of Sicilian Italian, German, and Native American decent. He is known for dressing "hardcore/pop punk". He started making videos on YouTube in May 2006. He has also taken part in other web series such as another ongoing vlog series called Shaytards, Shoot the Banker, The Elevator Show, Retarded Policeman[8] and The Annoying Orange, where he plays a lemon.[9] His father, Chaz Trippy, played percussion in the Gregg Allman Band when Trippy was younger.[10] He was also the bassist in a band himself, called Suspense Thriller.[11] He is also good friends with Travis Clark of We The Kings.

Allison Rose "Alli" Speed was born on (1989-08-13) August 13, 1989 (age 35) in Atlanta, Georgia. She is of Jewish and Italian decent. She is currently studying at Florida State University, where she majors in Spanish and has also taken classes in RE.

They live together, with their dogs Marley (a rat terrier mix) and Zoey (a New Zealand Huntaway), who frequently appear in Internet Killed Television, in Tallahassee, Florida.[4] Trippy proposed to Speed on October 4, 2009 in Valencia, Spain.[12] The episode featuring the proposal is one of their most viewed episodes.

Other Channels

In addition to their daily-vlog channel, CTFxC, Trippy and Speed also upload videos to other channels, although with less frequency:

  • CharlesTrippy[13] – Trippy's first channel, where he uploads skits, previously with former roommate Jeff Takeover.
  • Trippy[14] – Quick, usually unedited videos uploaded directly from Trippy's iPhone 4, previously from iPhone 3GS.
  • Alli[15] – Speed's own channel, where she has uploaded videos featuring friends and family, where they try to beat popular food challenges. She also films skits uploaded to her channel.
  • Mel[16] - Weekly vlogs, and usually helps Charles and/or Alli film skits or challenges.
