The Fantasia 27 is a French sailboat, that was designed by Philippe H. Harlé and first built in 1981.[1][2][3][4][5]

In 1987 the design was developed into the cruising-optimized Sun Way 27.[6][7][8]

Production

[edit]

The boat was built by Jeanneau in France between 1981 and 1996, with 1800 examples completed, but it is now out of production.[1][4][5]

The Fantasia 27 is a small recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass. It has a masthead sloop rig, a transom-hung rudder and a fixed fin keel or optionally twin keels or a centreboard. The full keel version displaces 5,291 lb (2,400 kg) and carries 1,653 lb (750 kg) of ballast. The centerboard version displaces 5,578 lb (2,530 kg) and carries 1,940 lb (880 kg) of ballast. The twin keel version carries 1,918 lb (870 kg) of ballast.[1][2][4][5][9][10]

The design has a draft of 5.00 ft (1.52 m) with the standard fin keel fitted. The centerboard version has a draft of 5.58 ft (1.70 m) with the centreboard extended and 2.60 ft (0.79 m) with it retracted. The twin-keels version has a draft of 3.44 ft (1.05 m)[1][9][10][4][5]

The Fantasia 27 is fitted with a Japanese Yanmar 1GM10 diesel engine of 9 hp (7 kW). The fuel tank holds 6 U.S. gallons (23 L; 5.0 imp gal) and the fresh water tank has a capacity of 12 U.S. gallons (45 L; 10.0 imp gal).[1][4][5]

The design has sleeping accommodation for four people, with a double "V"-berth in the bow and an aft cabin with a double berth on the port side. The galley is located on the port side just forward of the companionway ladder. The galley is L-shaped and is equipped with a two-burner stove, an ice box and a sink. A navigation station is opposite the galley, on the starboard side. The head is located aft on the starboard side.[1][4]

The boat has a hull speed of 6.21 kn (11.50 km/h).[2][4][5]

The design has a PHRF handicap of 195-222 for the fin keel model, 116-225 for the centerboard model and 204-222 for the twin keel model.[11]
