John Michael Palms (born June 6, 1935) was an American academic and nuclear physicist. He served as the president of the University of South Carolina from 1991 to 2001. He completed his undergraduate degree in 1958 at The Citadel.[1][2] He is an alumnus of University of New Mexico, where he earned his Ph.D. in 1966.[3]
