Johnny's West (ジャニーズWEST, Janīzu Uesuto) (stylized Johnny's WEST) is a seven-member Japanese boyband. The group's name comes from the fact that it originated within the Johnny's Entertainment talent agency, and that the members are from Kansai, the west region of Japan. They are the first group from Kansai Johnny's Jr. that has debuted in ten years, the last being Kanjani Eight. Debuting in 2014 with the single "Eejanaika", they sing mainly in the Kansai dialect.

History

The debut was announced at the Johnny's Countdown at New Year,[1] and the debut single "Eejanaika" is to be released April 23, 2014.

The name was supposed to be Johnny's WEST4, and the original members were to be Daiki Shigeoka, Akito Kiriyama, Junta Nakama and Nozomu Kotaki but it was later announced that Ryusei Fujii, Tomohiro Kamiyama and Takahiro Hamada was to join the four members and the name changed to Johnny's WEST.[2]

Their song "Gyakuten Winner" (逆転Winner, Turnabout Winner) was used as the opening of the Ace Attorney anime.[3]

In late 2017, the group starred in a Netflix drama titled Blazing Transfer Students loosely based upon the manga of the same name.[4]
