K. V. Dominic (born 13 February 1956), an Indian poet, short story writer, editor, and critic, writing in English, is a retired professor of the PG & Research Department of English, Newman College, Thodupuzha, Kerala, India. He took his PhD on the topic "East-West Conflicts in the Novels of R. K. Narayan with Special Reference to The Vendor of Sweets, Waiting for the Mahatma, The Painter of Signs and The Guide from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala .[1]

Literary career

In addition to many poems, short stories, and critical articles published in national and international journals, he has published thirty books so far including five books of English poems, one each translated poetry book in Hindi and Gujarati and a short story collection in English.[2] His poetry collections Winged Reason , Write Son, Write , Multicultural Symphony , Contemporary Concerns and Beyond [3] have received a huge critic response from in and outside India. He has also edited a number of books on different poets and short story writers. His poems featured in the poetry anthology, The Dance of the Peacock: An Anthology of English Poetry from India,[4] featuring 151 Indian English poets, edited by Vivekanand Jha and published by Hidden Brook Press,[5] Canada. His English and Hindi translated poems are included in Amaravathi Poetic Prism 2016 International Multilingual Poetry Anthology.[6] Dominic’s poetry has been critically studied by eminent professors, scholars and writers from India and abroad and Modern History Press, Ann Arbor, USA published a critical book on his poetry in 2016, consisting of 24 papers and an interview, under the title Philosophical Musings for a Meaningful Life: An Analysis of K. V. Dominic’s Poems.[7] Dominic’s poetry has been discussed in detail in the various chapters of PCK Prem’s critical book entitled English Poetry in India: A Comprehensive Survey of Trends and Thought Patterns published by Authorspress, New Delhi in 2011.[8] Prof. T. V. Reddy in his research book A Critical Survey of Indo-English Poetry published by Authorspress, New Delhi in 2016, has studied in detail K. V. Dominic’s poetry in a separate chapter.[9] A Complete collection of K. V. Dominic's poems entitled K V DOMINIC ESSENTIAL READINGS AND STUDY GUIDE was published by Modern History Press, Ann Arbor, USA in 2016. The book is aimed at inclusion in the syllabus of South Asian Studies in USA, UK, Canada and Australia. Also it is going to be considered for UG and PG studies in some universities of India.[10]

GIEWEC

Prof. Dominic is the Secretary of the GIEWEC (Guild of Indian English Writers Editors and Critics), whose headquarters is at Thodupuzha, Kerala, India . It is a large literary family consisting of professional writers, editors, university/college professors and PhD research scholars from India and abroad. He is serving as the editor and publisher of the international refereed biannual journal, International Journal on Multicultural Literature (IJML)' and Editor-in-Chief of the Guild's international refereed biannual journal, Writers Editors Critics (WEC).[11] Both the journals are abstracted and indexed by Literary Reference Centre Plus, EBSCO Host, USA for Worldwide reference.[12] Both WEC and IJML have been included in the University Grants Commission of India approved list of journals with journal number 49185 and 42456 respectively.[13] He is also the publisher of the international refereed annual, New Fiction Journal (NFJ).[14] He is an authority on research methodology and writing manuals and he conducts workshop on research methodology and MLA style of documentation in different parts of India every year. Dr. Dominic has been interviewed by an Italian Professor, Prof. Elisabetta Marino, and it appeared in reputed Italian journal MOSAICO in Italy and Brazil and its English translation in international refereed quarterly journal, Labyrinth from Gwalior.,[15][16]

Awards

International Poets Academy, Chennai conferred on him its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009 for his literary contribution to world peace and harmony.India Inter-Continental Cultural Association, Chandigarh conferred on him Kafla Inter-continental Award of Honour SAHITYA SHIROMANI in recognition of his contribution in the field of literature at the 10th International Writers' Festival at Trivandrum (Kerala) on 28 December 2014.
