This is a list of earthquakes in 1902. Only magnitude 6.0 or greater earthquakes appear on the list. Exceptions to this are earthquakes which have caused death, injury or damage. Events which occurred in remote areas will be excluded from the list as they wouldn't have generated significant media interest. All dates are listed according to UTC time. The number of large (Magnitude 7.0+) events remained similar to the last couple of years. There were a number of events which caused high casualties. The deadliest quake struck Uzbekistan in December. China and Guatemala also experienced high death tolls during the year.

A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck the Fox Islands, Alaska on January 1 at a depth of 0.0 km.[1]
A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck the Celebes Sea, Indonesia on January 12 at a depth of 0.0 km.[2]
A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Guerrero, Mexico on January 16 at an unknown depth. Two people died, another two were injured and there was damage in the epicentral area.[3]
A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck south of Hokkaido, Japan on January 17 at a depth of 35.0 km.[4]
A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck Quetzaltenango Department, Guatemala on January 18 at an unknown depth. Some homes were damaged or destroyed in the region.[5]
A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck to the south of New Britain, Papua New Guinea on January 24 at a depth of 0.0 km.[6]- A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck Aomori Prefecture, Honshu, Japan on January 30 at a depth of 35.0 km.[7]
- A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck off the east coast of Aomori Prefecture, Honshu, Japan on January 30 at a depth of 0.0 km. This can be considered an example of a doublet earthquake.[8]

A magnitude 6.6 struck the south end of Lake Baykal, Russia on April 11 at a depth of 16.0 km.[18]- A magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck Escuintla Department, Guatemala on April 19 at a depth of 0.0 km.[19] There were around 2,000 people killed and extensive damage in the area.[20]
- A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck off the east coast of Honshu, Japan on May 2 at a depth of 35.0 km.[21]
- A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck southeast of Kyushu, Japan on May 8 at a depth of 35.0 km.[22]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck Hokkaido, Japan on May 28 at a depth of 35.0 km.[23]
- A magnitude 8.0 earthquake struck the Sea of Okhotsk on June 11 at a depth of 600.0 km.[24]

A magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck in the Moro Gulf, Mindanao, Philippines on August 21 at an unknown depth. The earthquake caused many deaths (at least 101) and heavy damage. Many aftershocks followed some strong in their own right.[28]- A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck Xinjiang Province, China on August 22 at a depth of 0.0 km.[29] There was at least 2,500 deaths and major damage in the region.[30]

- A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck Yunnan Province, China in August. The exact date and depth were unknown. Six people were killed and many homes were destroyed or damaged.[32]

A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck southeast of Taiwan on November 21 at a depth of 5.0 km.[40]- A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck Baja California, Mexico on December 12 at a depth of 0.0 km.[41]
A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck Andijan Province, Uzbekistan on December 16 at a depth of 9.0 km. There was 4,880 people killed. Catastrophic damage was caused in the area, as many as 41,704 homes were destroyed or damaged.[42]
