Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions, known in Japan as Chūnibyō demo Koi ga Shitai, is an anime television series based on Torako's light novel and produced by Kyoto Animation.[1] The second season of the series follows a high school boy and a group of high school girls, having their unique delusional behaviours and running the school club.

The second season of the series, known as Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions -Heart Throb- (Chūnibyō demo Koi ga Shitai: Ren) aired on television from January 8 to March 26, 2014.[2] It was simulcast by Crunchyroll.[3][4] The first episode of a second set of Lite episodes was released on December 26, 2013[5] and a second series of shorts called Heated Table Series: Kotatsu accompanied each BD/DVD release, starting on March 19, 2014. The opening theme is "Voice" by Zaq and the ending theme is "Van!shment Th!s World" by Black Raison d'être. The ending theme for the Lite episodes is "Shin'en ni Mau Senritsu Shanikusai" (深淵に舞う戦慄謝肉祭, A Hair-Raising Carnival Dancing in the Abyss) by Zaq. Sentai Filmworks licensed the second season and released it in August 2015.[6]

Rikka has moved away from the cottage once again and continues living with Yūta at their apartment, while his father works at Jakarta, Indonesia, and his mother and sisters travel there to support him. While Yūta and Rikka continue attending the school, Shinka colors her hair black and Sanae serves as the students' representative council. That evening, Kuzuha and Tōka return to Japan, and spend the day with the group.

After meeting with Shinka's friend Kazari Kannagi, Yūta and Rikka visit the aquarium on a date. As Rikka states her uncertainty over what lovers should do, Yūta notices about their relationship. That night, Satone Shichimiya moves to the apartment room.

After having a dream and losing a bet to Rikka, Yūta wears a magical girl outfit. Rikka meets Satone, who reveals herself to be Yūta's childhood friend. While accompanying Satone, Rikka becomes clingy to Yūta, especially when she makes a habit of rubbing their noses. As Satone leaves, Yūta reassures Rikka by checking a "contract".
44"The Election for President of the Student Council (Queen Maker)... of Purity"

When Shinka plans to run for student council president, it is revealed that she and Satone had attended the elementary school. After Sanae makes a speech over the election, Shinka and Makoto become dropouts.
55"The Illusive... Siesta Labyrinth"

When a Hobby Group Representative Meeting is held for the groups to use each rooms, Nanase investigates the club about the failed presentation. She suggests the girls to take a "napping challenge" against Maple Hill High School's Siesta Club and serve as an official activity for the group. They meet Sui Nemuri, who sparks a rivalry with Kumin, and Rikka notices she will disband the society if they lose. The girls take part of sleeping and stay awake the entire night on the day of the contest. Despite their disadvantage against the other school, the girls defeat their opponents and save the club.
66"Travelling to the Island of Tsukushi... of Hesitation"

Yūta and the girls go on a class trip to Tsukushino Island. Feeling Rikka cannot handle the romance aspect, Yūta asks Shinka to watch over Rikka. Yūta and Rikka hide in the bed, but Shinka gives them the opportunity to leave there safely. Some time later, Yūta and Rikka go sightseeing together.
77"Triangle... of Missed Encounters"

Yūta and Rikka discover Satone separated from her class trip and losing her purse. Yūta and Satone avoid the monkey. After Yūta receives an arcade coin from Satone, Rikka sadly leaves, feeling Yuta had betrayed her, before meeting up with Shinka. As Yūta follows her, Satone calls Kuzuha up, before calling Rikka to meet up with her. Satone explains that she had accompanied Yūta, but discard her feelings to save herself, leaving Rikka with the question of whether she intends to keep it for Yūta. Yūta gives her a new umbrella and charm to Rikka on her birthday. Meanwhile, Sanae finds a note from Natsumi Tokugawa, and sends a message to the website administrator about the identity of Mori Summer.

Knowing about the name that neither she and Shinka made, Sanae identifies Natsumi as Mori Summer. Yūta and the others confront her, observing some odd tendencies in the process. Shinka inadvertently gives up her persona, determined to use her real name. As Sanae feels lonely from Shinka, Yūta notices a curious infatuation Mori had for Sanae. As Mori forces herself upon Sanae, Shinka revives her persona and confronts Natsumi, but gets overwhelmed. However, Sanae protects Shinka, believing Mori Summer is protecting her. Natsumi leaves, after discovering a relationship between Sanae and Shinka.

Yūta finds another arcade coin from an envelope. Kumin invites Yūta and the girls to work at her aunt's beach house, and Tōka introduces her head chef's daughter Cento. Knowing Rikka is losing her power, Satone tells her to restore it and impress Yūta. While fighting with Sanae, Satone and Cento, Rikka uses her "special contract" with Yūta to reveal her power and retain her Wicked Eye. After returning home, Satone laments over what could have been done for Yūta, finding herself overcome with strange thoughts.

Before Tōka and Cento return to Italy, they ask Shinka, Sanae and Kumin, to investigate the relationship between Satone and Yūta. Rikka wonders of somewhere whilst Satone accompanies Yūta. Despite her best efforts, she leaves him.

After being aware about Satone, Yūta seeks advice from Shinka and Kumin. Satone assures her heartbreak, but Shinka reprimands Yūta. Kumin tells Yūta that Shinka becomes upset, because she loves everyone more than she wants the best for them. Meanwhile, Rikka rests on the bed but leaves the apartment. Shinka encourages Satone to seek out and defeat Yūta. As she challenges him, Kuzuha tells Yūta that Rikka has left home. Reading a note about "awakening the Dark Flame Dragon" that he wrote as a child, Yūta realizes that Rikka went outside to fulfill their role the whole time. Worrying about Rikka, Yūta and Satone reunite with her. Rikka tells Yūta that she wanted to "awaken the dragon and affirm the contract", revealing that Satone had diminished her faith in it and left her apprehensive. When the dragon wakes up, Satone defeats it and overcomes her negative emotions. She reconciles with Yūta and Rikka.

Rikka seemingly ignores Yūta, and Satone informs the girls about their current relationship. Rikka asks the girls to keep her from running away due to the embarrassment that she endures whilst making progress with Yūta. Encouraged by the girls, Rikka tries to get her feelings across to Yūta, but becomes nervous to go through with it. Before Yūta and Rikka kiss, they watch a recording video about Chimera having kittens.

Rikka becomes displeased with Yūta, after discovering that Makoto allegedly has a USB flash drive containing photos of an idol he had during middle school. The girls instruct Yūta to return the flash drive, though Makoto secretly lets him keep it. However, Rikka sneaks into Yūta's room and inadvertently destroys it whilst trying to hide it from him, leading to their argument. With neither side willing to apologize, the girls notice how Yūta accompanied Rikka.
