Lucchini RS S.p.A. (formerly Lucchini Sidermeccanica S.p.A. and where the acronym "RS" stands for "rolling stock") is an Italian Company, fully owned by the Lucchini Family through a financial holding called Sinpar S.p.A. and divided from Gruppo Lucchini, which was under Russian control of Mr Mordashov and Severstal from 2005 till 2007. In 2008 the Lucchini's family took back the control of the company.
Lucchini RS is specialized on high technology steel products such as railways products, steel casting, forgings, tool steels and forge ingots. The company operates according to ISO 9001-2008, International Railway Industry Standard IRIS and ISO 14001 certifications to guarantee to each customer the same standard of high quality.
The company headquarters is in Brescia, but the main plant is located in Lovere (Bergamo) on the west shore of the Iseo Lake: the plant covers an area of 237,000 sqm including 147,000 sqm of factory buildings. Typical of this company is its ability to house on site all phases of production from the initial design to the finished products.[citation needed]
The Lucchini RS Group is made of Lucchini RS SpA in Italy, the main plant, and four foreign subsidiaries:

In October 2007 Lucchini RS established a joint venture in China, Zhibo Lucchini Railway Equipment Ltd. This company is the Chinese market leader in the manufacturing of high speed railway wheels, axles and wheelsets.
In 2010 the investment for a new railway rolling mill in Italy was completed and put into service. The expenditure was approximately €85 million.
In 2013 Lucchini RS signed an agreement with Italcertifer – the certification company of FS Group (Ferrovie dello Stato Group) – that assign to Italcertifer the role of exclusive supplier in Italy of railway product test and certification. Moreover, thank to this agreement, Italcertifer became privileged supplier also for foreign countries, with the possibility of extending the collaboration with Lucchini RS European subsidiaries.
On 27 June 2014, Lucchini RS acquired from the Tribunal of Liege a new company to manufacture railway products. The name of the new company is LBX SA.[1]
On 3 September 2014 Lucchini RS announced that it signed a preliminary agreement to acquire, by the end of 2014, 49% shareholding of Mamé Group, an important manufacturer of forged steel components based in Cividate Camuno (Brescia). Lucchini RS has a further option to acquire the majority of the group within 2017.[2]
From 2 February 2015 Lucchini RS and Unipart Rail create a new joint venture called LUR (Lucchini Unipart Rail Ltd). The new business will have an annual turnover of around £60m (about €75m) and employ over 300 people. Both production sites (Manchester and Doncaster) will remain. LUR focuses solely on the traction system of bogies, wheels and axels, wheelsets, gearboxes and final drivers. Lucchini RS holds 60% of LUR.[3][4]
On 10 June 2015 Antonio Mamè and Giuseppe Lucchini, respectively chairmen of Mamè Group SpA and Lucchini RS SpA, sign a definitive agreement with which Lucchini RS acquires 75% of a new company which will be composed by operative companies controlled by Mamè Group SpA. The company's name will be Lucchini Mamè Forge SpA. The chairman will be Antonio Mamè while the CEO will be Giuseppe Moschini (CEO of Mamè Group).[5]
