Luxembourg was present at the Eurovision Song Contest 1986, held in Bergen, Norway.
Due to the country's small size and its tradition of picking foreign acts to represent them in the Contest, Luxembourg has almost always picked their entrant and song by internal selection at the behest of broadcaster RTL Télévision.
The selection for 1986 was no exception; Sherisse Laurence, a little-known children's television host from Selkirk, Manitoba, Canada, was picked to sing Luxembourg's entry at the Contest that year, "L'amour de ma vie" (The love of my life). Laurence was picked despite being a Canadian Anglophone with little experience singing in the French language.
At the Contest in Bergen, Laurence was the first performer on stage. She ended up taking the third-place slot with 117 points.
