M. I. Shanavas (born 1952) is an Indian politician. He is current working president of kerala pradesh congress committee (KPCC) and Member of Parliament of the 16th Lok Sabha of India.

Life

M. I. Shanavas represents the Wayanad constituency[1] and is a member of the Indian National Congress. He has been a member of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee since 1983.[1] He won the 2009 Lok Sabha election from Wayanad.[1] on 19 september 2018 he has been selected as one of the working president of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC)

He entered politics through the Kerala Students Union, worked in the Youth Congress and Seva Dal.[citation needed] He was one of three leaders who rebelled against senior Congress leader K. Karunakaran and formed a third group.[citation needed] He has also been re-elected in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.[citation needed]
