Mangarhi is a village in Aligarh district, Uttar Pradesh, India. The population of Mangarhi is estimated at 2500.[citation needed] Mangarhi is situated on the major road between Aligarh and Gonda. The main road from Mathura to Aligarh also passes through Mangarhi.

Industry

The largest industries in Mangarhi are potato cultivation and wheat farming.[citation needed] There are a large number of cold storage units near Mangarhi in response to the demand for potato storage.

Notable residents

Several notable public figures have been residents of Mangarhi, including Amichand Singh, a political advocate and associate of Charan Singh, Vijendra Singh (M.P. Loksabha), Mulayam Singh Yadav and Tejvir Singh Guddu (former Zila Panchayat Chairman, have been booked under NSA (National Security Act) 3 times. Presently (1st Aug 2015) in Jail for the murder of two time ex mla Malkhan Singh in 2006. He is known more for criminal activities and less for social work. He also hit seriously Mr Rajendra Singh, the Raman Magsasay award winner. He is a history sheeter and his file is opened in kwarsi police station, Aligarh). Prior to Amichand Singh's death on 1 September 2009, former Indian Prime Minister, Charan Singh, regularly visited Mangarhi and was accommodated by Singh.[citation needed]

Amichand Singh's son, Sunil Singh, was nominated by the Anup Pandey (Chairman, Student Lok Dal) for the position of State Secretary of Uttar Pradeh's student union (for the term 2001-2006).[citation needed]

Nanak Chand Sharma, a resident of Mangarhi, previously headed the Horticultural Department at BRAU-Agra University.[citation needed]

The Road on Which Village Mangarhi Situated is called Gonda-Aligarh Road (Netaji Amichand Singh Road).
