The Manzano mountain cottontail (Sylvilagus cognatus) is a species of cottontail rabbit endemic to the Manzano Mountains in New Mexico, United States.[1] It occurs in coniferous forests in high elevation. It was previously thought to be a subspecies of the Eastern cottontail.
