Mary-Margaret McMahon (born July 6, 1966 in Collingwood, Ontario) is a Canadian politician, who was first elected to Toronto City Council in the 2010 city council election, defeating Speaker Sandra Bussin in Ward 32 (Beaches—East York).[1]

Background

Born and raised in Collingwood, Ontario, she is the daughter of former Collingwood mayor Ron Emo. McMahon has a bachelor's degree in French literature from Carleton University in Ottawa. Since 1989, McMahon has resided in the Beaches - East York area.[2] She describes herself as a "fiscally conservative environmentalist."[3]

McMahon is a community activist and former teacher of English as a second language. She has helped organize a farmers' market in Danforth and helped organize an anti-idling campaign at her children's school. She formerly worked as a community animator for Toronto's Live Green Toronto project.[4]
