Matthew Williams was lynched on December 4, 1931 in Salisbury, Maryland.[1] He was pulled from a bed in Peninsula General Hospital where he was being treated for a self-inflicted gunshot wound, thrown out of a window and hanged.[1] He had been hospitalized after he shot and killed his white employer and attempted suicide.[2]
