Mina Rana (Devanagari: मीना राणा) is a prolific Uttarakhandi singer. She can be heard on many Garhwali and Kumaoni music albums.[1] She is considered to be one of the best female singer of Uttarakhand and even said to be the Lata Mangeshkar of Uttarakhand.
In November 2014, she mesmerized the Sardotsav in Pithoragarh.
Early life
Mina Rana was born on May 24, 1975 in Delhi. She did her schooling from batlar Memorial Girls Senior Secondary School, Rajpur Road, Delhi till 9th standard and then she moved to Mussoorie, Uttarakhand to stay with her elder sister . There she continued her study from mussoorie Girls Inter College, Mussoorie. She did rest of her schooling staying with them. She is married to Sanjay Kumola and after getting married she came and settled in Delhi. Her husband is a music director by profession and runs a music studio Surabhi Multi Track Sound Studio named after their daughter Surabhi.
Singing career
Mina Rana did not got any formal training from anywhere. Since her childhood she was a big fan of Lata Mangeshkar. She started singing at a very early age when she was just a student. In Mussoorie, there was one Akashvani Club where she got her first chance to perform. Mukesh Lal Kumola, who is her relative now, was the President of that club. At that time she was not so fluent in Garhwali so she performed a Hindi song Nainon Men Badra Chhaye. That performance went so good and for that she got appreciation from the people and media.
Mani Bharti and Puran Singh Rawat witnessed her performance. After few days they contacted shri Ram Lalji(elder sister,s husband) and asked him if he can allow her to sing for them. After his permission she came to Delhi for her first recording 1991. It was her first break for the movie "Nauni Pichadi Nauni". She was in highschool at that time.
Till now she have performed with almost all the renowned singers of Uttarakhand like Shri chandra singh rahi narender singh negi ,pritam bhartwan Gajendra Rana, Anil Bisht, Virendra Rajput, Manglesh Dangwal, Dinesh Uniyal kishan mahipal,virender dangwal, darwan naithwal nain naath rawal prahlad mehra prakash bisht deewan kanwal lalit mohan joshi jitender tomkiyal pappu karki jagmohan digari and many others.
She have sung in many languages like Garhwali, Kumaoni, Jaunsari, Jaunpuri, Bhojpuri, Rajasthani, Kargali, Balti and in Hindi.

Awards And Nominations
Throughout her singing career she won many awards. She has won all three "Young Uttarakhand Cine Award" award for "Best Singer Female" form 2010 to 2012 back-to-back in a row. ram ram ji Young Uttarakhand Cine Award
