Michael Parsons (born October 3, 1995) is an American ice dancer. With partner Rachel Parsons, he is the 2016 World Junior silver medalist, the 2015 Junior Grand Prix Final bronze medalist, and a three-time U.S. national junior medalist.

Personal life

Michael Parsons was born October 3, 1995 in Wheaton, Maryland.[1] He has two sisters, Rachel and Katie. He is majoring in biology at Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland.[2][3]

Career

Parsons started learning to skate at age seven to play hockey but ultimately chose figure skating.[3] He joined the Wheaton Ice Skating Academy in December 2003.[4] Early in his ice dancing career, he skated with Kristina Rexford.[5]

He teamed up with his sister, Rachel, in February 2010.[6] They won gold on the novice level at the 2011 U.S. Championships and pewter on the junior level at the 2012 U.S. Championships. They were the only American ice dancers to represent the United States at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics, where they placed 4th. They were also selected for the 2012 World Junior Championships in Minsk, Belarus, where they finished 15th.

During the 2013-14 season, the team placed second at both of their assigned Junior Grand Prix events. They qualified for the Junior Grand Prix Final where they finished sixth. They won bronze at the junior level at the 2014 U.S. Figure Skating Championships and capped of their season with an eighth-place finish at the 2014 World Junior Figure Skating Championships.

The following season, the team medaled again at both their Junior Grand Prix events, but did not qualify for the Final.[7] However, they won silver on the junior level at the 2015 U.S. Figure Skating Championships and moved up four spots from last season when they placed fourth at the 2015 World Junior Figure Skating Championships.
