Michele Emiliano (b. July 23, 1959 in Bari) is an Italian politician and former judge. He was the mayor of Bari from 2004 to 2014. Since June 2015, he has served as president of the Apulia Region.[1][2]

Biography

Emiliano's father was a professional football player and small business owner. In 1962, he and his family moved to. In 1968 they returned to Bari. While growing up there he spent time playing basketball.[2]

He graduated from university with a law degree in 1983. For some time he worked as a trainee in a lawyer's office. In 1988 he married his current wife, Elena. They have three sons.[2]
