At the beginning of the first season, she reveals her big secret to her best friends, Lilly Truscott and Oliver Oken[12] In the second season, she enters her brother's high school, alongside Lilly and Oliver.[13] Due to her double life, Miley is often in awkward situations and finds herself lying in order to keep her secret.

  • Jake Ryan (Cody Linley): First appears in New Kid in School. Miley has a crush on Jake, but she was jealous of his girlfriend in People Who Use People, and tries to make him jealous; later, they kiss. She performed in a show with Jake and develops feelings for him. But in Achy Jakey Heart, Miley tells Jake her secret, that she is Hannah Montana. At first, he doesn't get angry, but a number of factors such as Miley's reaction to his star behaviour caused their relationship to end. At the end of the episode, he confirmed that he'd keep her secret. Later he goes from Miley's ex-Boyfriend to her friend.
  • Oliver Oken: Oliver had a crush on Hannah for the first two episodes. When he found that Hannah was really Miley, his obsession with her was questioned. The two are now best friends.
  • Travis Brody: First appears in Hannah Montana: The Movie. He began as a childhood friend of Miley's. They liked each other, but they didn't tell each other until they met later. It did not work out because they live on opposite sides of the country.
  • Derek (Austin Butler): First appears in My Best Friend's Boyfriend. He is Lucas' cousin, which Lilly finds Miley for a double date. He was afraid of scary movies, making it the worst date of Miley's life.
  • Rico (Moises Arias): Rico has a crush on her starting in the episode "Me and Rico down the schoolyard," in which Rico kisses her. But in season 2, she becomes Rico's rival.
  • Trey (Michael McShae): Trey is a boy Miley meets on the beach, during the opening of a new playground. His parents are snobs and make fun of Miley for her Tennessee accent and so called "hillbilly father" aka "Robby Ray"
  • Willis (Drew Osborne): Willis appears in episode People Who Use People. He was used by Miley to make Jake Ryan jealous, but it turns out he was only 11(and three-quarters as Willis said) years old (he told Miley that he was a "Senior", and he was tall for his age)
  • Johnny Collins (Corbin Bleu): First appeared in the pilot episode. It was revealed that Johnny likes both Miley and Hannah in "We're All in this Date Together." Unfortunately, his date with Hannah in that episode didn't turn out well, as a sick Rico came along, revealing Miley's unknown hate about him to Johnny. He walked off, much to his digust, thinking that Hannah was down-to-earth. Later, he spots Miley and, unfortunately, gets puked on by Miley, who had apparently caught Rico's cold. At this point, it is unknown if he will return for season 3.
  • Connor (Ryan Pinkston): A boy Miley meets when Christmas shopping in "Killing Me Softly With His Height." She agrees to go out on a date with him before realizing their extensive height difference. On the date, she mistakingly makes several references to their height difference, causing him to leave her saying "he thought she was different." Miley feels terrible and tries to apologize by going to the mall to find where he works. She finds out he works as one of Santa's elves which as she puts it, "doesn't help the situation." When trying to apologize he shuts her down before hearing what she has to say, so she tries again, this time dressed up as a reindeer with Lilly Truscott as the reindeer's bottom. He accepts her apology and they plan a second date. It is unknown whether or not they will continue dating.
