Cape Verde's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is a ministry responsible for foreign and diplomatic relations with other countries. The post was first established in 1975 when Cape Verde became an independent nation. In 2016, it became the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Communities and Defence. That year, the Ministry of Defence portion split from the Ministry of National Defence and Parliamentary Affairs, the Parliamentary Affairs section attached it and became the Ministry of the Presidency, Parliamentary Affairs and Sports.
