The following is a listing of recurring and minor characters from the popular CBS television drama, CSI: NY.

Recurring characters

  • Haylen Becall (Sarah Carter) (Season 6 - present), a crime scene cleanup contractor who had always wanted to work at the NYPD crime lab ever since a neighbor poisoned her cat as a child. Despite budget cuts resulting a hiring freeze, she obtained a New York State Police grant to get her hired as a part-time entry-level lab technician. Adam Ross is afraid she might ultimately replace him.
  • Terrance Davis (Nelly) (Season 5 - Present), a former gang member turned confidential informant for Flack. Flack has utilized Terrance's services many times until he signed off Terrance as his CI following the death of his girlfriend, Jessica Angell. Jess's death drove Flack down a path of alcoholism and while Flack got into a drunken fight with some thugs on the subway, Terrance showed up and saved Flack's life. Terrance later turned him over to Mac to get him some help ("Cuckoo's Nest").
  • Samantha Flack (Kathleen Munroe) (Season 4 - present), Flacks troubled sister whom often gets mixed up in illegal activities. Flack has tried numerous times to connect with her but Sam always pushes him away.
  • Chief Brigham Sinclair (Mykelti Williamson) (Season 3 - present), The chief of detectives who first appeared in "Cold Reveal" where he and Stanton Gerrard lead an internal investigation of Mac Taylor when Mac allegedly threw a serial killer, Clay Dobson, off the roof of a building.
  • Reed Garrett (Kyle Gallner) (Season 3 - present), the son of Claire Conrad Taylor, Mac's late wife. Claire had given birth to Reed when she was very young, and had put him up for adoption long before she met Mac. At first, Reed had mistakenly believed that Stella Bonasera was Claire, having observed the close friendship between Mac and Stella. After he learned the truth, Reed was reluctant to connect with Mac, because Mac is not his biological father. Still, Reed knows that Mac is the only link he has to knowing more about his mother. In "Sweet 16", Mac visits Reed at his home for Thanksgiving, and gives him photos of Claire. Reed and Mac bond further during the events of "Some Buried Bones", in which Reed's friend at college is murdered and Reed himself is assaulted. Reed also learns that the body of his mother has, to date, never been recovered from the World Trade Center site. During season 4, Reed is shown to have become interested in journalism, putting him at odds with Mac while trying to follow a case where a serial killer goes on the loose killing victims in a taxicab. He is shown getting unknowingly into the killer's cab at the end of the episode "Personal Foul", but the driver doesn't kill him and instead gives him information on the "cabbie killer" to post on his blog. In the episode "Taxi", he is kidnapped by the "cabbie killer", who wishes to use Reed to get his message across, but by leaving hints in his online blog, Mac and the team are able to find him. Mac is seen coming out of the hospital with Reed when he is released and Mac calls for a taxi.
  • Shane Casey (Edward Furlong) (Season 3 - present), a young man embroiled in a case where a serial killer uses the codes and stories found on a series of trendy t-shirts as inspiration for his grisly killings. Shane is believed to be targeting Hawkes and the prosecutors who put his brother, Ian, away for a crime that Shane thought he was innocent of. On the day of the sentencing, Ian hanged himself. Introduced in the fourth episode of season 3, "Hung Out To Dry".[3] In the season 3 episode "Raising Shane", Shane frames Hawkes for a robbery and murder, saying he will give the evidence to clear Hawkes if the team will prove Ian was innocent. He demands to talk to Danny Messer alone, and during this confrontation, Danny brings proof that Ian did indeed commit the crime for which he was arrested. Thoroughly devastated, Shane was then easily arrested for murdering the man he had hired to impersonate Hawkes. His print was found on Danny Messer's father's dogtags in the 6th season episode Flag on the Play.

Her character has a past connection with Sheldon Hawkes when he was still in the ME's Office. Peyton feels guilty in the episode "Murder Sings the Blues" when she accidentally lets it slip to Mac that Sheldon knew a murder victim which resulted in Sheldon being reprimanded and kicked off the case. In What Schemes May Come, Peyton was assaulted at the morgue by two people who stole one of the bodies. Peyton and Mac later end up going to London together to meet Peyton's family. In the show's 4th season, she returned to London full-time, leaving Mac with a letter saying goodbye.

His co-worker and boss, Dr. Sid Hammerback, convinced him to marry his then-girlfriend Anabel, who thanked Sid at their wedding. Pino's debts got the best of him, and Sid was forced to fire him after he was forging overtime slips. In Point of No Return, Anabel is found shot dead. The investigation leads to a drug scheme that Marty was running by creating heroin from dead drug addicts who died of overdose. In a hostage stand-off, Pino eventually surrendered after being talked down by Sheldon and ultimately persuaded by Sid and was arrested for drug trafficking.
