Mono is one of the twelve departments of Benin. The capital of Mono is Lokossa.

The Gen language is only spoken in this department in Benin. Other languages spoken in this area are Ewe and some of the Phla–Pherá languages

The département of Mono lost its northern territory in 1999 when it split off to become Kouffo Department.
