Coming out of Utah State, Vigil was projected to be drafted in the 4th or 5th round. A strong performance at the NFL Combine raised his draft stock. Vigil's 40-yard (4.72), 3-cone (6.73), and 20-yard shuttle (4.0) times were among the best of all the players at linebacker. He also was .04 seconds behind former Bengal's linebacker, A.J. Hawk's combine record for linebackers in the 20-yard shuttle.
The Cincinnati Bengals selected Vigil with the 87th overall pick in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft. On May 10, 2016, Vigil signed a 4-year, $3.035 million contract.[5]
