Plot
In a big Tamil city of the 60s...
Muthu (MGR), a tramp in the good heart, falls prey to a blackmailer : Djambhu (S. A. Ashokan), a gangster who hides his fraudulent activities behind his respectable profession of director of cabaret.
Forced, Muthu steals for its account and especially to save its beautiful Geetha (Jayalalitha), victim, also the same blackmail.
Dancer, her occurs in the establishment of Djambhu.
Come break in a quarantined city, Muthu comes face to face on Shanti (Sowcar Janaki), a young widow bullied and left for dead woman by her obnoxious family-in-law...

Production
OLI VILAKKU was the 100th film of actor M. G. Ramachandran and it was a remake of Hindi film PHOOL AUR PATTHAR.[4]
This was V. S. Raghavan 's first collaboration with MGR.[5]
On a unique spectacular of legendary Gemini Circuit, Chanakya, the man of the magnificent ENGA VEETTU PILLAI filmed, three years later, a MGR, still, in more great form, even more boosted.
OLI VILAKKU marks the third collaboration of MGR with the director Chanakya.
He presents us, this time, with a musical sequence ("Dhairiyamaga Sol Nee Manithan..."), where we see five a MGR in the screen, at the same time.
Before, this song ("Dhairiyamaga Sol Nee Manithan..."), MGR sketchs together with Jayalalidha a small choreography on an instrumental piece from the composer M.S.Visuwanadhan, in "Whistlings, Sips and Drunkenness".
Release
This film ran 20 weeks at Madurai Meenakshi, 100 days in Trichi and Kumbakonam and ran 175 days in Ceylon.
It was not successful in Chennai since it was released in 5 theatres. Tamil Nadu.[6] It also ran 175 days at Ceylon.[7]
Songs
The music is composed by M.S.Visuwanadhan and lyrics were written by Vaali.
The song "Aandavane Un" rendered by legendary South Indian Nightingale P. Susheela is based on Sivaranjini raga.[8]
