Shimanami Tasogare (しまなみ誰そ彼) is a Japanese manga by Yuhki Kamatani. It tells a story of a gay teenage boy, outed against his will, who meets other LGBT people in a discussion lounge. Kamatani depicts queer characters coming to terms with their identity with a lot of nuance and empathy. Shogakukan published four tankōbon volumes from December 11, 2015 to July 19, 2018.[1][2]

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga for North American release under the title Our Dreams at Dusk: Shimanami Tasogare beginning on May 7, 2019, stating, "[Shimanami Tasogare] manages to represent so many different ways that people shape their identities and find their unique spaces, which is something anyone can relate to. It’s no wonder this compelling drama has resonated with so many people."[3]

Plot

The story takes place in Onomichi, Hiroshima Prefecture. Tasuku Kaname's classmates discover he was watching 'gay porn', and the boy, scared of being outed, considers committing suicide. Before he does it, he sees a woman, called Someone jump out of a window and then appear unharmed in the house where she jumped from. Tasuku discovers that the house is an open 'drop in center', where he meets people with various troubles, such as an out lesbian Haruko Daichi, and by gradually talking to them he gradually heals the suffering of the mind.
