Pasir Panjang MRT station (CC26) is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the Circle Line, located in Queenstown planning area, Singapore.

This station is situated underneath Pasir Panjang Road and Labrador Viaduct, next to the Pasir Panjang container terminal.

Etymology

Pasir Panjang had appeared as Passir Panjang in 1851. It means "long sand", a reference to the long sandy beach that stretched along the coast of the area. This area has a lot of rich heritage. In 1910, the government took over the opium industry and state-owned factory at Pasir Panjang. Since the late 1960s, the whole section of the coast, from Telok Ayer Basin to Jurong, has been reclaimed for shipping wharves, and containerization. The coastal area is also reclaimed under the Port of Singapore.^{[citation needed]}

Art in Transit

The artwork featured in this station under the Art in Transit programme is Lieutenant Adnan by Ho Tzu Nyen. Located on the lift shaft in the station and around the station are mock posters for a fictional movie about Lieutenant Adnan bin Saidi (played by Singapore actor Aaron Aziz), a real-life war hero who fought in the Battle of Pasir Panjang during World War II.^[1] Today a memorial dedicated to Lieutenant Adnan is located at Reflections at Bukit Chandu, a museum near the site of the battle.

There is only one exit (A) that leads to Kent Ridge Park and the Bukit Chandu War Memorial (via footbridge over Pasir Panjang Road).
