Pike's Stockade, located near Sanford, Colorado, on the Conejos River, about 45 miles southwest of Fort Garland,[4] was built in 1807.[4] Here, the American flag was raised on Spanish soil by Zebulon Pike.[1]

The site was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1961.[3][5] The stockade was reconstructed from notes in Pike's journal[4] and is maintained by the History Colorado.
