Prawet (Template:Lang-th, pronounced [prā.wêːt]) is one of the 50 districts of Bangkok, Thailand, located in the southeast of the town. Neighboring districts are (from the east clockwise) Bang Phli (Samut Prakan Province), Bang Na, Phra Khanong, Suan Luang, Bang Kapi, Saphan Sung and Lat Krabang (Bangkok).
Si Nakharin road, named after Srinagarindra, is the major road of the district. There are plenty of housing projects along this road. Prawet also plays an important part to control flood problem in eastern Bangkok with a vast lake in Rama IX Park.
History
Prawet was once part of Phra Khanong district. Prawet was elevated to become a separate district in 1989. Part of Prawet, especially the Suan Luang sub-district were curved out to establish Suan Luang district on 14 January 1994.
In October 2005 the plan to create the special administrative area Nakhon Suvarnabhumi around the new Bangkok airport became public. Prawet was supposed to be one of five districts to be included into this new area.
Administration
The district is sub-divided into three sub-districts (khwaeng).

Places
Suan Luang Rama IX (Rama IX Park) is a large park built to commenmorate King Bhumibol's 60th birthday on 5 December 1987. It covers 0.8 km² of land, a large portion of which is the water reservoir named Traphang Kaeo (ตระพังแก้ว). The most distinctive building of the park is Ho Ratchamongkhon (หอรัชมงคล) which is a gallery showing the king's biography and his royal projects. It also has a botanical garden and grass fields for recreational sports.
Seacon Square is a large shopping malls located on Si Nakharin Road. Further south along the road are Tesco Lotus and Paradise Park (formerly Seri Center). The latter is a mall specialized in IT, furnitures, and kids schools offering activities such as music and sports.
Onnut Road is fast becoming an automotive hub. Manheim Auctions had validated this area by choosing to establish its Asian Pacific headquarters and auction site here. The Soni Group Of Companies has further accelerated the recovery of this region by establishing a large auto showroom and its corporate headquarters.
The great push to Prawet's recovery is its close proximity to the new Suvarnbhumi Airport.
