After that he came into the discussion widely. Later in 10 February 2021, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 'Shishu Bokta' Rafiqul Islam Madani last Wednesday afternoon. He has been detained on charges of anti-state and seditious speech and creating disorder. Later, he was booked under the Digital Security Act and sent to jail.[10]
On 4 November 2023, he was released on bail from Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur.[11][12]
Legal notice
Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Shariful Hasan Khan sent a legal notice on 15 February 2021, as to why the title 'Madani' is being used despite not having studied at Madinah University. In response, he said, "I used 'Madani' as per the name of the Madrasa where I studied and wrote in Jamia Madania Baridhara, Dhaka".[13]
