Ram Kinkar Upadhyay is a noted scholar on Indian scriptures and a recipient of Padma Bhushan - the third highest civil award of India - in 1999.[1] He hails from Uttar Pradesh. He was born on 1 Nov 1924 in Jabalpur. His ancestors were from village Barainin in UP. He left for his heavenly abode on 9 August 2002.From the age of 19, he started writing and wrote about 92 books in an illustrious career spanning 59 years- mainly on Ramcharitmanas. He used to place his point of view without disturbing or insulting any person holding rival view.

Now his thoughts and preachings have been brought forward by his shishya Umashankar Byas and MaithiliSharan (a.k.a. Bhai Ji). Umashanker left his home at an early age of 13 in charan vandana (devotion) of Gurujee. Later Umashankar's brother in law Bhai jee also joined.

He has contributed to launch a website to spread the thoughts of Pujya Ramkinkar Upadhayay. The word 'kinkar' is taken from 'Ramcharitmanas'. It means servant.
